Type Locality and Naming

The type section is at Chaotugou, Aohan Banner, Inner Mongolia. It was named by the No. 2 Regional Geological Survey Party of Inner Mongolia in 1956.


Lithology and Thickness

Volcanics and Volcaniclastics. It is dominated by basic and intermediate-acid volcanic lavas as well as pyroclastic rock and tuff shale, intercalated with sericite quartz schist, locally with minor limestone. Exposed thickness 2262 m.

Lower contact

Unconformably overlies the Silurian System

Upper contact

Conformable with the overlying Baijiadian Fm

Regional extent

Distributed from Chaotugou to Laoxigou, Aohan Banner, Inner Mongolia, and also exposed along Hashitubeigou−Hashangou−Banshaoguo of Nanwanzi Township, Naiman Banner.
